It's no secret I love to use oats, and while it is usually my preference to team them with dark chocolate, such as in my choc-oatslice or my healthy chocolate chip cookies, there are times I feel more like the sweetness of sultana cookies
Sometimes I like my sweet treats to be chocolatey (hehe, ok a LOT of the time), other times I prefer something fruity, and I do, of course, love an oaty or coconuty treat too
However, I would definitely make this again - it is just so tasty, and with all of those great ingredients (carrots, bananas, pepitas, apple, sultanas, walnuts), I dare say it is on the healthy side too
Combine oats, sultanas, sifted flour , sugar and coconut in a bowl. Just like milk is to our cereal and spinach is to our salad, honey oat bars are a pantry staple that are always trying to sneak their way into the nearest biscuit tin, not waiting long to get gobbled up
sultanas. I made them using the ingredients as the recipe states however in order to limit the dishes I mixed it in the food processor and made it as a slice instead of cupcakes as that was the equipment I had used to make the fruit andoat bars
Add the quick oats, LSA mix, sultanasand apple. Allow to cool and then slice into bars. Great for a breakfast on the run, the kids school lunch boxes ( and even my lunch box)
Further discussion ensued and what she didn't like was the texture of the oats. The Anzac would be the go to biscuit in my repertoire and is often found in my biscuit jar
I came up with the slice when I went to make my regular Muesli Slice recipe for our morning tea and discovered we were out of nuts andsultanas – thankfully it was a hit with the boys
Stir through the oatsandsultanas. ½ cup sultanas. Top each cupcake with a tspn oatsand some thinly sliced apple (push it into the mix a bit otherwise it falls off when you get them out of the oven
I made a version of this slice a few weeks ago using sultanasand chocolate chips (you can find that recipe here) and it was so popular both on the blog and at home that I had to play around with the flavours and make something that I think is even better
If you're not worried about fructose add some sultanas. You can take this recipe one step further and bake your oats but I prefer mine nice and creamy on the stove top
